- History of Flight:
On October 17, 2026, at about 1508 local time, a Cessna 177A Cardinal, N30544, registered to Flying Twenty Inc, sustained substantial damage in a forced landing near Reid-Hillview Airport of Santa Clara County (RHV/KRHV), San Jose, California. The pilot and two passengers survived with minor injuries. The flight had originated from KRHV at about 1505.
The FAA reported that the airplane declared an emergency due to engine issue and landed on a road.
Preliminary ADS-B data shows that the airplane departed runway 31R and entered a brief climb to 400 ft before it initiated a descent towards the intersection.
A dashcam video inside a vehicle stopped at the intersection showed the airplane approaching the road wings level when the outer left wing struck a pole, the airplane rolled to the left and rotated around before it impacted the road with the right wing and nose section.
The airplane came to rest nose down in the middle of the intersection, there was no post crash fire, but appears that both wing fuel tanks were not breached during the impact sequence.
