- History of Flight:
On September 3, 2026, at about 2004 local time, a Piper PA-28-180B Cherokee, N7635W, registered to Dependable Aviation LLC, sustained substantial damage when it crashed into wooded area under unknown circumstances near Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport (PUJ/KPUJ), Atlanta, Georgia. The flight instructor and student pilot suffered serious injuries. The local flight originated 1946.
It appears the airplane was on its initial climb from runway 13 when the accident happened.

Looks like it just refused to climb after the go-around was initiated, mushing along in the night until impact. I wish the crew a speedy recovery.

ReplyDeleteLooking at the data above and at the flight information from FlightAware, I see that the pilot had performed three touch and goes in the airport traffic pattern. On the third approach, the one shown in the first figure above, he touched down approximately a third of the way down the runway. However, he apparently delayed adding power for his third takeoff until he was approximately two thirds of the way down the runway, not leaving enough room to establish engine power for a proper rate of climb and sufficient airspeed to depart successfully.
