- History of Flight:
On July 17, 2026, at about 1153 local time, a privately-registered Van's RV-8A, N22SZ, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident at Iowa County Airport (MRJ/KMRJ), Mineral Point, Wisconsin. The pilot was not injured. The flight was originating at the time, and was destined to Oshkosh-Wittman Field (OSH/KOSH), Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Preliminary ADS-B data shows that the airplane was departing runway 22 when it entered a 180 left turn and attempted to land back at the airport. The airplane overflew the departure runway, entered a left turn, and impacted the surface of runway 11/29.
The FAA reported: "Aircraft impacted rwy while attempting to return to mrj after experiencing engine issues shortly after departure."
