- History of Flight:
On September 5, 2026, at about 1139 local time, a privately-registered Piper PA-28-180 Cherokee B, N7516W, sustained unknown damage when it was involved in an incident near Draughon-Miller Central Texas Regional Airport (TPL/KTPL), Temple, Texas. The pilot and passenger were not injured. The flight departed at 1138, and was destined to Georgetown Municipal Airport (GTU/KGTU), Georgetown, Texas.
The FAA reported that the airplane departed runway 16 when the propeller stopped, "heard a pop", and made an emergency landing in a cornfield 2 miles from the airport.
Preliminary ADS-B data shows that the airplane climbed to about 1,300 ft and 80 knots groundspeed before it initiated a descent towards an open field.
