Piper PA-28-180 Cherokee C, N7937W, incident occurred on September 30, 2026, near Marana Regional Airport (AVQ/KAVQ), Marana, Arizona

- History of Flight:
On September 30, 2026, at about 0928 local time, a privately-registered Piper PA-28-180 Cherokee C, N7937W, sustained unknown damage when it experienced a loss of engine power and subsequent forced landing near Marana Regional Airport (AVQ/KAVQ), Marana, Arizona. The pilot and passenger were not injured. The flight originated from La Cholla Airpark (57AZ), Tucson, Arizona, at 0844.

Preliminary ADS-B data shows that the airplane departed 57AZ and headed west towards Pinal Airpark (KMZJ), Marana, Arizona. The airplane did three touch-and-go(es) then was seen on an easternly heading with a reported groundspeed of 120 knots before it initiated a descending right turn towards KAVQ. The airplane had deaccelerated to about 58 knots and descended to 3,000 ft before the track ended north of the airport.

The FAA reported that the airplane experienced engine issues and made an off-airport forced landing.
