- History of Flight:
On October 1, 2026, at about 0916 local time, a privately-registered Cessna 172N Skyhawk, N75513, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident under unknown circumstances near Woodland, California. The pilot suffered unknown injuries.
Preliminary ADS-B data shows that the airplane was first seen at 0758 flying south near Castella, California. The airplane continued continued in that heading for the entire flight. Several segments of the track were missing. The segment between 0852 to 0906 shows the airplane descending from 4,600 ft to 1,600 ft. The last three minutes of the flight starting from 0914:48 shows the airplane at 300 ft and an average groundspeed of 100 knots. The last three ADS-B data points, starting from 0915:43, shows that the airplane made a left hand turn with an average rate of -2000 feet per minute (fpm) as the groundspeed decreased to 73 knots. The last point at 0915:49 showed a groundspeed of 108 knots and an average rate of +1400 feet per minute (fpm).
The FAA reported that the airplane crashed under unknown circumstances. Local media reported that the airplane crashed while trying to land.
A review of weather conditions at the nearby airports and the area forecast discussion showed unremarkable conditions.
