- History of Flight:
On August 14, 2026, at about 0830 local time, a Piper PA-28-181 Archer III, N586MA, registered to the Washington International Flight Academy LLC (WIFA), sustained unknown damage when it struck a tree during a missed approach to runway 24 at State College-University Park Airport (SCE/KUNV), Houserville, Pennsylvania. The sole occupant onboard was not injured. The airplane diverted to and landed at 0857 at Altoona Airport (AOO/KAOO) Altoona, Pennsylvania. The flight originated from Montgomery County Airport (GAI/KGAI), Gaithersburg, Maryland, at 0716.
The FAA reported that the incident occurred on approach to Altoona. However, ADS-B data shows that the airplane was initially on approach to runway 24 at KUNV when it descended below 1,400 ft and started a missed approach and diverting to KAOO.
