On September 13, 2026, about 1515 Pacific daylight time, a Cessna P210N airplane, N4617W, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near San Luis Obispo, California. The pilot, pilot-rated-passenger, and a passenger were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight.
The pilot reported that the flight originated from Van Nuys Airport (VNY) Van Nuys, California and was destined for San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SBP) San Luis Obispo, California, where the pilot planned to conduct a practice area navigation (RNAV) GPS runway 29 approach. After the airplane touched down on the runway, the main landing gear collapsed; the left elevator and horizontal stabilizer were substantially damaged. The pilot reported that, when he extended the landing gear, he saw that the green landing gear advisory light was illuminated and the main landing gear was moving.
The airplane came to rest upright on the runway. The main landing gear was partially extended, and the nose gear remained down and locked. The airplane was recovered to a secure location for further examination.
