Cessna 172S Skyhawk SP, N767VK, accident occurred on January 31, 2026, at Augusta Municipal Airport (3AU), Augusta, Kansas

- History of Flight:
On January 31, 2026, at about 0945 local time, a Cessna 172S Skyhawk SP, N767VK, registered to the Textron Aviation Employees Flying Club Inc, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident at the Augusta Municipal Airport (3AU), Augusta, Kansas. The sole pilot onboard was not injured. The local flight originated from 3AU at 0940 LT.

The FAA reported: "Aircraft impacted a snow bank during landing and flipped over." ADS-B data indicates the airplane was on its 4th touch when it veered to the left side of runway 36.

According to an online accident report by the Kansas Highway Petrol: "During the 4th take off attempt the aircraft began to track towards the left side of the runway. The aircraft continued drifting left and control inputs were applied in an attempt to maintain centerline and regain directional control. The aircraft went to the left side of the runway and entered into the snow area and came to rest inverted."

The pilot, aged 40, held a student pilot certificate issued/updated on 9/25/2025. Her third class FAA medical was issued on May 2025, with a note that she must use corrective lens(es) to meet vision standards at all required distances.
