Cessna 172D Skyhawk, N2536U, accident occurred on December 19, 2025, near Post-Garza County Municipal Airport (5F1), Post, Texas

- History of Flight:
On December 19, 2025, at about 1542 local time, a privately-registered Cessna 172D Skyhawk, N2536U, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near the Post-Garza County Municipal Airport (5F1), Post, Texas. The sole pilot onboard was not injured. The flight originated from Sulphur Springs Municipal Airport (KSLR), 
Sulphur Springs, Texas, at 1151 LT.

According to the FAA: "Aircraft experienced engine issues, made a forced landing in a field and came to rest in trees," and damage was rated as substantial. According to ADS-B data, the airplane was cruising at 5,000 ft when it entered a descending left hand turn for runway 17 at 5F1. The track stopped when the airplane was 0.35 mile north of the airport. The airplane was at 2,600 ft, 45 knots groundspeed, and 500 feet per minute (fpm) descent. (figure 1)
