- History of Flight:
On September 19, 2026, at about 1041 local time, a Cirrus SR20 G6, N189WM, registered to Sanborn Hill Aviation LLC, sustained unknown when it was involved in a CAPS deployment/landing near Arden, North Carolina. The pilot and passenger suffered minor injuries. The flight originated from Asheville Regional Airport (AVL/KAVL), Asheville, North Carolina, at 1034.
The FAA reported that the airplane experienced engine issues and deployed the CAPS during an attempted to return to departure airport. It came down upright in a field with the nose gear collapsed.
ADS-B data shows that the airplane departed runway 35 and was climbing through 4,200 ft when it stopped the climb and initiated a descending right hand turn. The CAPS was deployed about 3 minutes later.
