Cessna 560XL Citation Excel, N562JL, accident occurred on September 1, 2026, at Porterville Municipal Airport (PTV/KPTV), Porterville, California

- History of Flight:
On September 1, 2026, at about 1142 local time, a Cessna 560XL Citation Excel, N562JL, registered to Monreve LLC out of Jacksonville, Florida, sustained substantial damage following a runway overrun at Porterville Municipal Airport (PTV/KPTV), Porterville, California. The two pilots and four passengers were not injured. The flight originated from Oakland International Airport (OAK/KOAK), 
Oakland, California, at 1106.

Preliminary ADS-B data shows that at 1141:34, the airplane was on final approach to runway 12 at KPTV with a reported groundspeed of 224 knots and an average rate of -2800 feet per minute (fpm). The next datapoint was recorded at 1142:08, the airplane was 5,400 ft down the runway and was observed at 125 knots (GS). At 1142:10, the airplane departed the runway end going about 111 knots (GS). The airplane continued across a field and down an intersection before coming to a stop in another field about 1,100 ft from the departure end of runway 22.

The airplane went through a chainlink fence and came to rest upright. A portion of the fence was wrapped around the fuselage. The main landing gear appears to have collapsed when the jet crossed the road. There was no post crash fire. The left wing and fuselage sustained extensive impact damage (see figures).

KPTV features a single asphalt/grooved runway 12/30 which is 5960 x 150 ft. The airport field elevation is 443.2 ft. Winds at the time were variable at 4 knots

  2. 224 knots over-the-fence speed, 111 knots through-the-other-fence speed. There has to be a reason for this.

  3. Makes no sense. Pilot incapacitation? As stated above insanely un -stabilized approach in near perfect weather. The approach should have been called off at 1,000 ft AGL

  5. I think that's totally plausible. Double flameout, badly botched deadstick approach, no reversers, no brakes, no fire. Not unlike the Jeju 737 crash last year, but no concrete barrier wall this time.
