On August 30, 2026, at 1040 Pacific daylight time, a Hawker Beechcraft G36, N646MM, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Murrieta, California. The student pilot, flight instructor, and 4 passengers were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flight.
The flight instructor reported that they were conducting a cross-country flight from French Valley Airport (F70), Murrieta/Temecula, California, to Blythe Airport (BLH), Blythe, California. During the takeoff roll on runway 18, at about rotation speed, the left side of the airplane dropped abruptly, and the airplane veered to the left. The flight instructor directed the student pilot to apply right aileron input to level the wings and return the airplane to the center of the runway. According to the student pilot, after leveling the wings, the nose landing gear lifted off the runway surface, the airplane veered aggressively to the right and became unresponsive to flight control inputs. The flight instructor assumed control and reduced the throttle to idle. The airplane exited the runway surface and the left wing collided with an airport sign, which resulted in substantial damage to the left wing.
The wreckage was retained for further examination.
Why are there four passengers on a training flight? By loading this six-seat Bonanza up to max weight, and possibly beyond the CG, it was uncontrollable and couldn't get off of the ground.
