On October 8, 2026, about 1400 central daylight time, a Mooney M20F airplane, N9068V, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Anderson, Indiana. The pilot was not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 flight test.
The pilot reported that the purpose of the flight was to conduct a post-maintenance test flight. Shortly after takeoff, the pilot observed a pronounced left rolling tendency, and he decided to return to land at the airport. The pilot stated that during the approach the airplane was stable, but needed significant right aileron correction. After the main landing gear touched down, the airplane veered to the left, and the pilot was unable to regain control. The airplane exited the runway to the left and struck a taxiway sign, which resulted in substantial damage to the left wing.
The airplane was retained for further examination.
