- History of Flight:
On August 21, 2026, at about 1430 local time, a Piper PA-32R-300 Lance, N2297M, registered to Hunter Stokes & Associates LLC, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident at Thomaston-Upson County Airport (OPN/KOPN), The Rock, Georgia. The two occupants were not injured. The flight was destined to Sebastian, Florida.
The airplane had stopped at KOPN to refuel. The FAA reported that the airplane attempted to its abort take off after becoming airborne and returned to the pavement with the gear retracted.
Local news reported that the pilot tried to deploy the landing gear again, but it didn't extend in time before the plane landed, skidded, and hit an antenna past the end of the runway.
