On May 4, 2026, at about 0722 local time, an experiment, solar-powered aircraft, the Solar Impulse 2, N247PF, sustained unknown, but apparent substantial damage when it crashed into the Gulf of America following a loss of engine power off Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
