- History of Flight:
On August 5, 2026, at about 1034 local time, a Canadian-registered Van's RV-8, C-GFWR, operated by SCG Projects Inc, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident at Great Falls International Airport (GTF/KGTF), Great Falls, Montana. The pilot was not injured. The personal flight originated from Edmonton/Villeneuve (Rose Field) Aerodrome (CRF3), Villeneuve, Alberta, at 0820.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) reported:
"A privately registered Van's RV-8 was operating a flight from Edmonton/Villeneuve (Rose Field) Aerodrome (CRF3), AB, to Great Falls International Airport (KGTF), MT. On landing, the aircraft ground-looped and veered off the side of the runway 21. There were no injuries reported to the single soul onboard. Substantial damage was incurred by the aircraft, including to the propeller and the left wing."
The 0953 METAR indicated winds from 270° at 7 knots. The 1053 METAR indicated winds from 300° at 10 knots, gusting 16 knots (Direction was variable between 260 and 330)
