- History of Flight:
On August 20, 2026, at about 0913 local time, a Grumman G-164 Ag Cat, N7501Q, registered to Macy’s Flying Services Inc, was destroyed when it collided with a radio tower and terrain during an aerial application flight near Olene, Oregon. The commercial pilot was seriously injured. The flight originated from Tulelake Municipal Airport (O81), Tulelake, California.
The airplane struck a tower from a Basin Mediactive LLC directional array consisting of four towers near Hill Road and Crystal Springs Road off Highway 140.
Each tower is 267 feet tall.
The pilot held a commercial pilot certificate with an airplane single engine land rating. His second class FAA medical was issued on January 2026.
