- History of Flight:
On January 24, 2026, at about 0712 local time, a Piper PA-46-350P Malibu Mirage, N91MK, registered to Mulaii LLC out of Wilmington, Delaware, sustained substantial damage in a forced landing near Sioux Gateway Airport (SUX/KSUX), Sioux City, Iowa. The pilot and passenger were not injured. The airplane was originated from KSUX, and was destined to an unknown location.
The FAA reported: "Aircraft experienced engine issues after takeoff and crash landed in a field." Additional information indicates that this may have been a low oil pressure warning. According to preliminary ADS-B data, at 0704, the airplane departed runway 18 at KSUX and entered a climb to 3,200 ft. At 0707, the airplane entered a descending left hand turn, heading north back towards the airport. The airplane was decelerating (losing ground speed values) throughout the descent. The last ADS-B return was recorded at 0712:15, the airplane was at 500 ft, 87 knots groundspeed, and descending 450 feet per minute (fpm) about 0.5 mile south of KSUX.
The airplane came to rest upright in a field. Both wings and engine were impact damaged and separated from the airframe.
