On June 25, 2026, about 0905 mountain daylight time, a Diamond DA20-C1, N643DC, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Nephi, Utah. The flight instructor and the student pilot were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 141 instructional flight.

The flight departed Spanish Fork Airport (SPK), Spanish Fork, Utah, about 0741. According to the flight instructor, during the training flight they elected to perform a simulated engine-out approach to a field. The flight instructor reduced the engine power to simulate the engine failure, and the student maneuvered the airplane toward the selected landing area. As the airplane approached the field, the flight instructor advanced the throttle to full power; however, the engine did not respond. The flight instructor subsequently assumed control of the airplane and performed a forced landing.

During the landing rollout, the airplane struck a ditch, which resulted in substantial damage to the right wing and fuselage.

The airplane was retained for further examination.
