- History of Flight:
On December 13, 2025, at about 1220 local time, United Airlines flight UA803, Boeing 777-224ER, N78004, sustained unknown damage when it was involved in an incident at Dulles International Airport (IAD/KIAD), Dulles, Virginia. The two pilots, five cabin crew, and 290 passengers were not injured. The international scheduled passenger flight originated from KIAD, and was destined to the Haneda Airport (HND/RJTT), Tokyo, Japan.
According to the FAA: "Aircraft no. 1 engine and engine cowling separated and caught fire on departure, returned to IAD." However, local news reported that no parts departed the aircraft, and that the incident caused a grass fire on airport property.
