University of Mississippi Medical Center AirCare opb Med-Trans Corp
On June 9, 2025, about 1710 central daylight time, an Eurocopter EC 135P2+ helicopter, N836CS, was not damaged when it was involved in an incident near Jackson, Mississippi. There were no injuries. The helicopter was operated by MedTrans Corporation as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 135 air medical flight. The flight originated from University of Mississippi Medical Center Heliport (4MS6), Mississippi, at about 1656 LT.
The purpose of the flight was to reposition the helicopter back to the home base at Golden Triangle Regional Airport (GTR), Columbus, Mississippi.
The FAA reported that the helicopter landed in a field due to a vibration issue. A preliminary review of automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) data showed the helicopter departed from MS46 and began to climb to the northeast to an inflight cruising altitude of 2550 ft. At about 1707 LT, the helicopter disappeared from ADS-B coverage. About 3 minutes later, the helicopter for a single and one last return, which was recorded at 1125 ft, 94 knots groundspeed, and descending 1400 feet per minute (figure 1).
On March 10, 2025, about 1237 central daylight time, an Airbus Helicopters EC135 P2+ helicopter, N835CS, operated as AirCare 3, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Canton, Mississippi. The commercial pilot, the flight paramedic, and the flight nurse sustained fatal injuries. The helicopter was operated by MedTrans Corporation as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 135 air medical flight.
The incident helicopter followed a similar path to that of the March ill-fated flight (Figure 2).
