On July 24, 2026, about 1550 central daylight time, a Beech V35 airplane, N3707Q, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Carroll, Iowa. The pilot was not injured. The flight was operated under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight.
According to the pilot, he departed from the Arthur N Neu Airport (CIN), Carroll, Iowa, and flew towards Stanton County Municipal Airport (JHN), Johnson City, Kansas. The pilot reported that shortly after takeoff, the engine started to run rough. He turned back towards CIN and noticed that the oil pressure began to decrease. About 5 miles from CIN, the oil pressure dropped to zero. When the airplane was about 3 miles from the airport, the engine started to smoke, and total engine power was lost. He performed a forced landing to a bean field. During the forced landing, the right aileron sustained substantial damage.
A postaccident visual inspection of the engine revealed a hole in the crankcase above the No. 4 cylinder and additional case damage above the No. 3 cylinder. The oil dipstick showed little or no oil remained in the sump.
The airplane was retained for further examination.
