- History of Flight:
On October 13, 2026, at about 0458 local time, a Cessna 210N Centurion, N1329U, registered to ACW Inc, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near Louisiana Regional Airport (REG/KREG), Gonzales, Louisiana. The sole pilot onboard suffered minor injuries. The airplane was departing at the time.
Preliminary ADS-B data shows the airplane on a climbing right hand turn from runway 35 when it disappeared from coverage 20 seconds into the track.
The local police reported that the airplane came to rest about 1,500 ft from the runway, and the engine itself came to rest on a road about 300 ft from the airplane.
Weather conditions at the time included fog and a 200 ft broken ceiling.
I've been following daily incidents/accidents since ~2018, and I can't recall any similar cases where the entire engine departed the airplane like this.

I've heard of having an "engine out", but...how in the world is this even possible?!
ReplyDeletePoor maintenance? And taking off into those conditions guaranteed that if a problem arose, he would not be able to return to land.
